I AM A STRANGE LOOP

28 years later, Hofstadter wrote what could be considered as the final chapter of G.E.B. In “I am a strange loop” he continues developing his investigations in self-reference and focuses on the emergence of the self. By placing a videocamera in front of a TV screen and connecting the camera to that screen (therefore creating a loop) one can observe how mysterious infinite and fractal-like shapes are produced when the screen pictures what the camera sees and sends back to the screen. All the sounds heard in this song are created from one single sound (the strike of a mallet on a metallophone) and by processing this sound through echo units, different notes and timbres are produced.
